Kat Cattie

Director of Education & Outreach

Kat joined SOS after nearly two decades as an educator in the Florida public school system. During her tenure at Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center on Miami Beach she was lead teacher for 5+ grade with a focus on math and science education and instituted numerous environmental programs for students.

She was the recipient of various grants and environmental awards, including the Healthy Generation Grant. She started the Fienberg-Fisher after-school Science Club, instituted a school-wide recycling program, and created an organic garden, butterfly garden and native plant collection.

She was voted both Science and Math Teacher of the Year and was the school’s PSELL (UM Science program) liaison. She also served as a special education teacher for the Easter Seal’s Society in Miami where she taught mentally and physically challenged at-risk Head Start students.

She received her B.A. in elementary education from American University and is certified educator for K-6th grade elementary education, 5-9th grade integrated middle school, and ESOL. She is highly proficient in Spanish.
